CURRICULUM INFORMATION

The City School International Pvt – Sharjah follows the National Curriculum for England in core and non-core subjects. The curriculum is further supplemented with Arabic, Islamic Studies, UAE Social Studies and Moral Education.

THE NATIONAL CURRICULUM FOR ENGLAND

This curriculum, commonly known as the British National Curriculum, is extensively used by international Schools around the world. It is a detailed, planned and integrated scheme covering a child’s whole School experience, from the age of 3 to 18. It is a skill-based curriculum, aided by excellent textbooks and resources, with its own assessment mechanism. It culminates with public examination system (IGCSEs and A’Levels), which are accepted by universities throughout the world.

Students are encouraged to be independent learners, collaborate with their peers, gain conceptual clarity through asking questions, analyse and evaluate situations/ideas. They enhance their creativity through a variety of opportunities within classrooms and beyond. The detail of subjects offered in this phase is as follows:

Key Stage 1
Year 1 to 2 National Curriculum UK & Ministry of Education
Core Subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Arabic, Islamic Education
Foundation Subjects: Social Studies, History, Geography, Music, Computing, PE, Art, Moral Education, Moral Studies for Non-Muslims (program based on living moral values such as Honesty, Truthfulness, Cooperation, Respect)
Key Stage 2
Year 3 to 6 National Curriculum UK & Ministry of Education
Core Subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Arabic, Islamic Education
Foundation Subjects: Social Studies, History, Geography, Music, Computing & Robotics, Physical Education, Library, Art, French (year 5 and 6), Moral Education, Moral Studies for Non-Muslims (program based on living moral values such as Honesty, Truthfulness, Cooperation, Respect).
