Your children become part of The City School Sharjah family from the moment they enter our gates every morning. Our highly experienced and qualified teachers and support staff are all dedicated in making sure your child cherishes every minute they spend in school, whilst feeling safe and cared for.
In order to support working families, we offer a breakfast club from 6:45am and a homework club after school. Parents can relax knowing their children are being nurtured in our hands.
We know that the more parents are involved in their children’s education, the better behaviour and grades become. Parents can demonstrate involvement at home – by reading with their children, helping with homework, and discussing school events.
The British Curriculum is also known as the National Curriculum for England and is renowned for providing a globally recognised education. It was designed to be delivered creatively with a focus on critical thinking and flexibility. This outstanding record of success should provide parents with a sense of confidence that their child will be receiving one of the best educations available.
Learning is structured in a way that guides students through a variety of subjects. Starting in the early years, students focus on the fundamental and as they progress, the curriculum dives deeper where more complex aspects of the subjects are explored, as well as how they relate to other areas of study.
Subjects studied:
The curriculum includes a series of measurable and achievable goals, each designed to build on what went before whilst focusing on greater depth in students’ learning. Students are assessed through regular benchmarking, which ensures they have mastered the content and are prepared for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and A level qualifications.
As a curriculum which aims to develop well-rounded individuals who not only understand the core principles of their subjects, but also how to use this knowledge in real-world situations, the British Curriculum places a high priority on extracurricular activities such as team sports and performing arts, which help students develop skills in leadership and teamwork and to understand the intricacies of competition and camaraderie.
Schools that follow the British Curriculum also encourage students to participate in activities that deepen their understanding of academic subjects such as Model United Nations, Debate, or STEAM activities like robotics or mathematics competitions.
At the City School in Sharjah, we deliver the curriculum through a hands-on themed approach, linking all our subjects to real world examples, offering a truly contextual experience.
As a smaller school with small class sizes, we know every child personally and teachers develop the curriculum accordingly. With such a child centred approach, our students engage in all aspects of their learning and cherish every experience.
